We are a happy band of friends who have at our core Christian and community values. We wish to work together to look after the church, a historically significant building which has existed since pre Norman times and keep it at the centre of Wethersfield life. As well as being the place in which generations of Wethersfieldians have been christened, confirmed, married and bade good bye to, we hope to make the church a hub for the village community of today. We are pleased to host musical concerts by expert musicians as well as a series of youth concerts for our local young talent. We also host services for the primary school, significantly at Easter and Christmas. We have Children’s church once a month for those aged three to eleven years at which a variety of craft activities keep the little ones entertained. We always welcome new members to the PCC as well as anyone who would enjoy attending our church services, full details of which can be found on a list in the church porch.
Please contact the Vicar for Baptisms, Marriages and when you are in need of help. He is very happy to bring Communion to the homes of the sick and housebound.

Would newcomers to the village please make us aware of their presence.
The PCC decide which charities the church funds will support each year and organise fund raising for chosen causes. Our next big fund raising event will be the Church Fete on 11 June 12.30 – 3 pm and we would welcome anyone who might feel they would like to lend a hand from 11 am in the morning, again, please telephone the Secretary, on 01371850462 if you would like to get involved.
We have three ordinary meetings of the PCC after the AGM, which happens in April each year, and is when we can elect new members to the PCC, before this meeting we will have met to agree the accounts which our Treasurer so kindly takes care of. Presently, our PCC members are eleven, the duties of a PCC member are to form part of what is effectively a stewardship committee to look after the fabric of the church as well as arrange fund raising events. We currently have two church wardens and all share in the responsibility of these positions. We also have a Deanery Synod member who represents our church at meetings of the over arching Synod which is the church authority over our area. Next April (2018) we can formally welcome any applicants for these roles. Please telephone the Secretary on 01371 850 462 if you feel you might be interested in taking up one of these positions as some ‘shadowing’ makes for a much easier hand over.
A form of planning permission from the Diocese, the local governing authority of the church, is needed for any restoration or improvements to the church to be carried out. We are in the process of applying for a ‘Faculty’ as this permission is known in order to renovate the spire and clock. This is a central and very visible architectural feature of the church and needs to be well maintained. Thankfully, the traditionally long winded method of application has now been somewhat streamlined.
We are fortunate to still enjoy some financial support from the Parish Council, a sum which we use to maintain the churchyards both here in Wethersfield and also at Blackmore End.
