World War I centenary

For the past three years the bellringers have been commemorating the centenary of the deaths of those Wethersfield men who perished in the Great War. During 1918 the village lost no fewer than ten of its young men and these will also be the subject of special ringing.
Over the country as a whole, some 1,400 bell ringers lost their lives, and this year there is a Government-backed drive called “Ringing Remembers”, to recruit a similar number of new ringers with the target of having as many churches as possible on Armistice Day in November. To get a taste of what this involves, have a look at the “Bell Ringers” page of this website. If you are interested in learning, we hold initial training on Fridays from 7 pm. Or if just curious, come along to the church on a Monday evening to watch the main practice.

Iyengar Yoga

Come and join us for Iyengar Yoga!
Monday nights 19:45 – 21:15

What is Iyengar Yoga?

Yoga is one of the oldest systems of personal development in the world.  Its aim – to balance the body, mind and spirit.  Yoga asanas (poses) and pranayama (awareness of the breath) aim to reach all the muscles, nerves and glands of the body and promote physical and mental health.

The Iyengar Method

The Iyengar method of yoga is named after our teacher B.K.S. Iyengar.  The teaching helps you focus on correct alignment of the body in poses ensuring you’re working safely, with maximum benefit to your flexibility, strength and wellbeing.  Props such as blocks, blankets and belts are sometimes used to allow those with less strength or flexibility to work correctly and achieve their full potential.
