Get involved with the Art of the Possible this October
The Art of the Possible festival wants to celebrate the good things that happen in communities across Essex. If you have an idea for an event that would inspire, educate and connect people, the festival team would love to hear from you.
Running from the 14th to the 31st October the festival will showcase the people, places and passion that make Essex a great place to live. Now in its third year, the festival promotes the inspirational things going on across our county, shares ideas and experiences and shows how we can all create the communities we want to see by bringing people together and building connections.
Whether it is friendship or fitness, healthy living or heritage, cooking or community, social enterprise or skills sharing, or something else entirely, there will be interesting events happening across the county. Visit www.artofthepossiblefestival.com to find out more and become part of the Art of the Possible.

2017 has seen the start of the refurbishment of the Village Hall. We have been extremely fortunate in receiving grants of almost £30,000 so far but there is still work to be done and so the quest for funding continues.
The ladies toilets have been completely redone and now work has started on the gents. This will be finished by the end of June. It was recently discovered that the asbestos on the roof of the small hall is breaking down and so it has become urgent that the roof be replaced. It is planned that work on this should start at the end of July/beginning of August. Work will then have to be carried out on the hall itself as it will be rendered unusable as a result of replacing the roof.
As well as grant aid the Trustees are working on fundraising themselves.
There has recently been an envelope appeal throughout the village and so far we have raised over £2,000.00 and still rising! Thank you Wethersfield, this will all go towards the refurbishment of your village hall. Future events:
15th July: Village Hall Fun Weekend Quiz. 7.30 pm start. Tickets £5.00 per person to include a delicious slice of Mary Berry’s Wimbledon Cake and a glass of prosecco (bring your own drinks and nibbles). It’s hoped that all village clubs and associations will field teams.
16th September: Wethersfield Garage Sale. For further information please contact Russell Green, 01371 850458.
21st October: “ABBA Sensation”! This is one of the country’s finest ABBA tribute bands, more used to playing large venues than village halls but they are coming to Wethersfield! Tickets £12.50 each. Contact Mair Godley, 01371 850620. Look out for the posters and get your tickets quickly!
Pre-Christmas event to be announced
We win !!!
It was great to see a load of people having fun in the village. We had great music from the Disraeli band as always and we managed to escape the weather as well, our team did a fantastic job in clearing the green and getting it back to pristine conditions before sunset so a big thanks to them also. We now move onto the big event itself which is the Festival in just 4 weeks time so let the countdown begin!
