Since it was set up in 2015 Community Agents has helped over 8,000 older people to remain living independently in their own homes.

Community Agents are local, trusted supporters working in the communities in which they live. They are all aligned to well known charities such as Age UK Essex, British Red Cross and Essex Neighbourhood Watch. They provide a free service - without an assessment – and a timely response to calls for help and information.

To explain Community Agents more concisely and how it works, we have put together a simple step-by-step online learning tool.

“After completing the modules you’ll know more about what Community Agents Essex is and the work the project does. We’ll explain how you can make a referral and show some actual case studies with excellent outcomes,” said Brian Goodwin, Community Services Manager, Rural Community Council of Essex

“It comes in five sections and takes about 30 minutes to complete, but it is an invaluable tool for people who are new to Community Agents or for those who feel they need a refresher.

The sections cover:

·         What is Community Agents Essex?

·         How can Community Agents Essex help?

·         Referrals

·         Outcomes and success stories

·         Summary and further information

People are at the heart of Community Agents. We have already won an award for our collaborative person centred approach - and are in line for another – for our voluntary/public sector partnership which effectively uses local community based resources and does not duplicate any other available services.
