High Tea Party at Wethersfield - 19th May 2016
Our 1936 Austin Ruby was 80yrs old and we decided to invite his friends, [and their owners] to a party at the John Pygram Pavilion in Wethersfield.
We are members of the local Wine Club and had seen it being built and are very impressed with its facilities, [and the pub where we had his 70 that has now shut!].
We also needed a new venue for our Club’s Annual luncheon and this seemed an ideal opportunity to show our fellow members the new venue. After a 25 mile car ramble around Essex, 16 Austin 7s etc paraded outside the Pavilion to be welcomed by BERt’s owners, Mary and Les Morley - luckily very good friends of Dorothy and Bill Norman. It wasn't long before the drivers and their passengers were soon tucking into an excellent ‘tea’ of sandwiches, scones and cream, cakes, biscuits, tea, coffee, wine and beer.
A line up of vehicles for a group photo was organised although it must be mentioned that many of the other Sevens there are into their 90th year. A wonderful day and our grateful thanks to Bill and Dorothy for the arrangements and all their help.
We look forward to an even bigger invasion of A7’s for our Annual Dinner.
Thank You Wethersfield. See you again soon!
