The information below is from the Planning Policy Officer, Braintree District Council:
I am writing to inform you that work on a conservation area appraisal and management plan for the Wethersfield Conservation Area will be carried out over the coming months.
Section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 places a duty on local planning authorities to review conservation areas within their district from time to time. The conservation area was designated on 2nd November 1973 and has not been reviewed since its designation.
Braintree District Council has appointed Place Services who are independent of the Council to carry out this work.
The management plan will provide an analysis of positive and negative contributing factors, opportunities for beneficial change and enhancement or the need for additional protection and restraint.
If you are aware of any relevant material (e.g. maps, photos and historical records etc.) that would provide useful information for the appraisal, please let us know and we will pass it on to Place Services.
The draft conservation area appraisal and management plan will be subject to a public consultation and a public meeting will take place within the Parish to discuss the proposals. We will notify the Parish Council and all residents within or effected by the conservation area appraisal of when the meeting will take place, along with any relevant materials and details of how to respond to the consultation.
Please feel free to pass this email on to any groups or individuals who may be interested.
Further general information on conservation areas and listed buildings can be found on the council’s website (link below)
