Cllr Barry Vincent attended Braintree District Council’s Funding Fayre on 19th October on behalf of Wethersfield Parish Council. A number of organisations made presentations about funding opportunities, and below is a short summary.
Community Initiatives Fund – Essex County Council grant scheme up to a maximum of £15000 for any single project. Designed to support creation, procurement or development of new community assets or to enhance existing assets or initiatives that strengthen a community. We have already benefitted from some of its funding in the Parish. The present deadline for Expressions of Interest is end of January 2018 and full applications by the end of February. Councillors Community Grants – Ward Councillors grants of £100 – £1500 available for a variety of projects including building improvements, playground equipment and recreation facilities etc. Both Peter Schwier and Peter Tattersley have access to these funds and can approve the grants. Essex Crowd Funding – The Essex Crowd is a funding opportunity which has a fund of £500K for community projects and initiatives e.g. community gardens and street murals, festivals and sports facilities. Details and application process on Essex.gov.uk/Communities
Essex Community Foundation – work with independent bodies and charitable organisations and makes grants ranging from £250 to £10K available to support a variety of ‘quality of life’ projects and activities. Their average grant is around £4000. More information on www.essexcommunityfoundation.org.uk
